Sheldon L. Gerstenfeld, VMD, CVA, CVFT
General Practice, Birds and Special Species, Holistic Medicine, Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist, Certified Chinese Veterinary Food Therapy

Dr. Gerstenfeld received his VMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and bachelor of science degree from George Washington University. He is certified in veterinary acupuncture and Chinese veterinary food therapy. He completed his studies in veterinary acupuncture and Chinese veterinary food therapy at the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine and studied fish and marine mammal medicine at Aquavet in Woods Hole, Massachusetts. He completed dentistry coursework at the Animal Dental Training Center. Dr. Gerstenfeld has over 40 years experience with birds, fish, and special species. He is the author of eight books and served as a contributing editor for Parents Magazine for 21 years. His television segments have appeared on The Today Show, CBS-TV, NBC-TV, and Animal Planet. He appeared on KYW Channel 3's "Ask the Vet" program for 6 years, hosted a radio show on WILM-AM in Delaware for 6 years and has been honored by Philadelphia Magazine as one of "23 Great Vets." His previous community work included organizing one of the first dog walks in the United States with the Philadelphia Phillies and the Philly Phanatic to support ALS research and patient care. He was honored to receive the Alumni Award of Merit from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. His animal companion is a cat. He has also been a guardian for fish, ducks, reptiles, birds, a rat and many dogs. 

Lisa Suslak, VMD, DACVR
Board Certified Veterinary Radiologist
Dr. Suslak received her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her residency in veterinary radiology at the Matthew J. Ryan Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Suslak was an adjunct faculty member at University of Pennsylvania's New Bolton Center from 1996-2010. She is on the Board of Directors of eVet Diagnostics.

Michael S. Miller, VMD, MS, ABVP
Practice Limited to Cardiology
Dr. Miller received his VMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, his Master of Science in Cardiac Electrophysiology from Auburn University and his bachleor of science from Florida State University. He apprenticed with Dr. Larry Tilley in cardiology for twelve years at the Animal Medical Center and at Cardiopet in New York City. Dr. Miller's areas of specialty are cardiology and pulmonary medicine, echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound), Doppler ultrasound (color flow, continuous and pulsed wave), electrocardiography, arrhythmia analysis and therapy and congestive heart failure diagnosis and therapy. 

Cecilia Helenski, DVM
Practice Limited to Cardiology
Dr. Helinski received her DVM from Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine. She interned at Oklahoma State University and completed her veterinary residency in Cardiopulmonary Medicine at the University of Florida and University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Helinski completed a one year post-doctoral program at the Temple University School of Medicine studying venous thrombosis.


Melissa Hobday, VMD, DACVS
Dr. Melissa Hobday is a board-certified veterinary surgeon with a specific interest in gastrointestinal, orthopedics, and upper airway procedures. She received her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Hobday practiced emergency medicine before completing her surgery residency at Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center. Prior to her veterinary career, Dr. Hobday graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art and studied sculpture in Italy.  

Johanna Murray, DVM
Dr. Murray received her DVM from Michigan State College of Veterinary Medicine and an undergraduate degree from Arcadia University. Dr. Murray completed an internship at Carolina Veterinary Specialists and complete a residency in diagnostic imaging at Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Murray worked for the Blue Pearl Philadelphia network and then created her own imaging service which she currently operates. Dr. Murray performs ultrasound on dogs, cats, and small mammals including guinea pigs and rabbits. Dr. Murray also performs ultrasound on reptiles including bearded dragons, snakes, turtles, and tortoises. Dr. Murray enjoys traveling, photography, and cooking. She shares her home with four dogs and a cat.

Michelle Lazarski, PT, CCRP

Michelle earned her undergraduate degree in Physical Therapy from Boston University and she earned her Certificate in Canine Rehabilitation from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. She has been a rehabilitation therapist for animals for over twelve years. She has provided rehabilitation therapy for animals from local and specialty veterinary hospitals in the Philadelphia area and beyond, including those from the Veterinary Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Group in Annapolis Junction, Maryland.


Our Certified Veterinary Technicians:

Chrissy Wagner, CVT
Chrissy graduated from the Veterinary Technology program at Manor College in 2005. She has been a guardian for several cats.

Seamus Fleming, CVT
Seamus graduated from Archbishop Ryan High School and was a part of the wrestling and volleyball teams. He then graduated from the Veterinary Technology program at Manor College where he was a recipient of the St. Macrina Scholarship and was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society. While at Manor College, Seamus was captain of the Horse Care Team and served as a student minister in Manor's Student Chaplaincy Program. He has previously worked in emergency and general veterinary practice. Seamus lives with many animal companions including a cat, frog, gecko, turtle, and koi fish.
